My Story

I can remember when I was about 7 years old I had started a journal to document the effects of tylenol on headaches. Even then I was drawn to medicine, intrinsically anchored by its seductive logic and ability to make people feel better.

At age 13 I was dropped on my head while wrestling in junior high gym class. My lower back was in extreme pain, and it lead me to my first chiropractic treatment. I can remember basically crawling in to the doctor's office and walking out almost pain-free 15 minutes later.

Multiple sports injuries from football and track & field sent me back to chiropractors for the rest of my athletic career which spanned through college. Every time I injured myself a chiropractor could put me back together.

And that's the story of how I was launched literally head first into chiropractic.

As I progressed through my professional career as a chiropractor, I began post-doctoral studies in nutrition. I learned the right way to feed the body, and how to prevent degenerative changes through proper diet, exercise, and nutritional supplementation.

Along the way I incorporated acupuncture, massage, and emotional clearing techniques into my existing work, and Mind Body Spirit was born.

I know what it's like to suffer. I spent years of my life in chronic pain before having surgery on herniated discs in my lower back at age 25. I had my appendix out at age 11. I had a sports hernia surgically repaired at age 12. I know pain...

And it sucks, big time.

There's nothing that hurts worse than your own pain, but seeing other people's suffering comes in close second.

And I'm not just talking about physical pain. You don't need bulging discs or a migraine headache to be in pain. And you  don't need a broken leg or a bad case of hemorrhoids, either.

Enlightenment is the end of suffering.

Buddha

Suffering can come in many forms, and one of the most powerful forms of suffering comes from not knowing.

Not knowing how to eat, how to exercise. Not knowing why you don't sleep through the night. Not knowing if you should take calcium, or magnesium, or calcium and magnesium. And if so, how many milligrams? And should you do the entire dose at once, or spread it out throughout the day?

So many questions like these plague the minds of my patients. And not knowing the answers can have a real negative impact on your health and wellness.

What I Do...Really.

My mission is to empower my patients to end their own suffering by providing them with the knowledge they need to make the best health choices.  This knowledge is focused in five areas, and answers the most fundamental questions on wellness:

  • 1

    Diet

The 3 things you need to know about diet: 1) how many calories 2) ideal protein:fat:carb ratio 3) best food sources

  • 2

    Exercise

Which type of exercise is optimal for your metabolism; high-intensity, or low-intensity?

  • 3

    Supplements

What are the ideal supplements to support your energy, focus, sleep, and hormone balance? What is the optimal dose of each supplement? What is the best time of day to take your supplements?

  • 4

    Hydration

How many ounces of water do you require per day to look and feel your best? Are you properly absorbing your water? What is the best way to hydrate throughout the day?

  • 5

    Sleep

Are you getting enough sleep at night? Are you getting into the deeper phases of sleep where true healing really happens? How can you sleep perfectly every night?
