Blood Type O Diet & Food List

Dear Blood Type O web-surfer,

I have been a long-time fan of making smoothies and juices in the morning.  They taste great, are easy to make, and get me out the door and off to work in no-time flat.

I’m also an avid follower of the blood type diet, having used it to clear up several health conditions I suffered with for years like sinusitis and low-back pain.

I have been scouring the internet for months looking for an AMAZING smoothie recipe book that has blood-type smoothie recommendations when I stumbled upon
THIS BOOK.

It includes over 270 recipes and is currently selling at $4.97, an unbelievable value for so much content.  The recipes are absolutely fantastic and blood-type friendly.

They’ve helped give me new ideas to change up my usual morning smoothies and add a little variety to my day.  If you’re like me and and need your daily smoothie fix please feel free to check out Juicing Secrets by clicking HERE.  You’ll be glad you did!

July 14, 2013: A Note By Dr. Mike

Food reactions are hidden as often as they are obvious.  Obvious reactions would include throat swelling, itching especially along the outsides of the arms, sneezing, and watery eyes.  But there are other reactions such as nasal congestion, skin irritation/redness, fatigue/yawning, tongue/throat scratchiness/irritation, weight gain, etc. that a person often won’t correlate with food consumption.

It is expected for any one or several of the above-mentioned symptoms to occur within minutes or hours of consuming a food found on your AVOID list.  If you experience any of the above symptoms after eating a food that is found on your NEUTRAL or BENEFICIAL list then you should consider having your adrenal hormones tested through the saliva. A reaction to one of these foods indicates that your adrenal glands are recognizing that food as a foreign invader and mounting an inflammatory/immune response against the food!

This is not good.  If the body is attacking foods that it shouldn’t be then your chances of acquiring an auto-immune disease in the future are high.  In auto-immune conditions the body attacks it’s own cells, thinking they too are a foreign invader.  If your body is already recognizing harmless or even beneficial foods as foreign invaders then the auto-immune process has likely begun on a small- or large-scale.

Blood Type O History

Type O is the oldest of all the blood types and have higher stomach acid levels than the other types which gives them an advantage to digesting animal meats and proteins.  In his book, Eat Right For Your Blood Type, Dr. Peter J. D’Adamo states that “Type Os thrive on intense physical exercise and animal protein.  The digestive tracts of all Type Os retain the m emory of ancient times.  The high-protein hunter-gatherer diet and the enormous physical demands placed on the systems of early-Type Os probably kept most primitive humans in a mild state of ketosis or fat-burning. “

The Type O’s metabolism is uniquely geared to burn protein rather than sugar as a fuel source.  When the Type O sticks to their blood type diet they will naturally lean out and drop body fat.

Weight Loss

Type Os lose weight readily when they eliminate grains, breads, legumes, and beans.  The main factor is the gluten found in wheat and whole wheat products.  The gluten found in wheat reduces the effectiveness of insulin resulting in a slower metabolic rate and reduced fat-burning.

Another factor for weight gain in Type Os is related to thyroid activity.  Dr. D’Adamo says that “Type Os have a tendency to have low levels of thyroid hormone.  This condition, called hypothyroidism, occurs because Type Os often exhibit insufficient levels of iodine—a chemical element whose main purpose is thyroid hormone production.”  One of the major symptoms is weight gain.
